Re-inventing the fringe: de
making post-war neighborhoods more sustainable

Nine European cities have jointly developed knowledge about making post-war areas on the edge of the city (the fringe) future-proof. As Lead Expert, temp.architecture supported this city network. In addition to the international knowledge exchange, each city in the network has also worked on a concrete location and developed an Integrated Action Plan for this with relevant stakeholders.
Over a period of two years, nine European cities developed and shared knowledge about making post-war areas on the edge of the city (the fringe) future-proof. In addition to this international knowledge exchange, each city has also worked on a concrete location within the context of the network and developed an Integrated Action Plan for this with relevant stakeholders. As Lead Expert, Temp.architecture has supported this EU URBACT cities network by providing a structure and methods for knowledge exchange, producing substantive publications and reporting, arranging the programming of all meetings and guiding the process integrally as a facilitator.

The aim of the cities within the network was to create integrated and flexible urban development plans for these fringe areas. At the request of temp.architecture, each participating city also realized an intervention in the plan area when hosting an international event, so that the first step was already taken during the lifespan of the network and the effect of the planning became tangible.
